I see you there, sitting in your yoga pants at the kitchen table - relaxing for those precious thirty-four seconds of peace between breaking up fights and feeding your littles. I see you looking at your Facebook feed again - filled with perfectly curated photos of your mom-group leader blissfully watching her little angel play violin while meticulously dressed in designer frocks. Yes, your beloved Facebook feed that makes you feel like every other mom is killin it, while you’re stuck in your lonely kitchen, drowning in dirty dishes and half-eaten grilled cheeses, having just picked your outfit from a heaping pile of unfolded laundry that resides on your bedroom floor.
Oh CRAP. The Doorbell!
You snap out of Facebook just in time to notice your toddler opening the front door to that mom who’s always twenty minutes early for every playdate, and she’s carrying muffins. Homemade, gluten-free, organic muffins made with her own homegrown apples. SERIOUSLY.
You quickly kick some toys out of the way of the door and smile awkwardly. As they step hesitantly over the dog and into your home, you catch supermom’s eye as she sees that portrait from your wedding day hanging over the mantel. “Is that you?” she asks ...kindly, with a forced smile. But you know what she means.
